National Civic Associations' Y2K Programs
National Local Government Y2K Awareness Campaign
Four U.S. national governmental organizations, the National
League of Cities (NLC), the National
Association of Counties (NACo), the International
City/County Management Association (ICMA), and Public
Technology, Inc. (PTI), have combined resources to initiate a national
year 2000 awareness campaign for local governments. See the press
release.
NACo has established a Year
2000 web site that includes specific articles and information for county
governments.
The Public Technology, Inc., site has a "Y2K
& You" section to help local officials and their staffs inform
the public and address technology problems that may occur in the Year 2000.
Their primer of guidelines on how to proceed comes highly recommended by
people at Computer Professionals
for Social Responsibility.
If you know of any other national civic associations' programs for Y2K,
please tell us so we can post them here. Send email to cii@igc.apc.org.
