What can be wise -- or foolish?

To what does the word "wise" apply?

At the very least, we can observe the characteristics of wisdom in

  • PEOPLE: groups, leaders, elders, teachers, councils, organizations, societies, etc.
  • KNOWLEDGE: awareness, insight, principles, thoughts, ideas, etc.
  • WORDS: writings, sacred texts, statements, sayings, dialogues, etc.
  • CHOICES: decisions, solutions, judgments, guidance, policies, plans, paths, etc.
  • ACTIONS: activities, behaviors, initiatives, enterprises, operations, etc.
  • MEANS: approaches, methods, processes, systems, technologies, etc.
  • CULTURES: institutions, practices, worldviews, patterns, etc.
